Where plaintiff, to read a water meter, entered a dark basement with which he was unfamiliar and which he could have lighted, but did not, and moved about in search of the water meter, using a flashlight to illuminate the walls, but not the floor, as he proceeded, in the course of which he fell into a furnace pit, he was guilty of contributory negligence as a matter of law.
